Intellectual Property Rights ? Issues in digital environment

Abstract

Author(s): Unnikrishnan G, Chandrashekara M.

Intellectual property laws confer a bundle of exclusive rights in relation to the particular form or manner in which ideas or information are expressed or manifested. The term "intellectual property" denotes the specific legal rights which authors, inventors and other IP holders may hold and exercise, and not the intellectual work itself. Copyright is a form of legal protection given to content creators through the assignment of specific rights to works that qualify for protection. Copyright infringement happens rampantly in almost all fields of digital media. Library professionals required basic understanding about copyright and related subject areas to showcase better professional capabilities.
